In urgent need of a rifling button.

Hello everyone.

I have run into a time crunch building my rifle for the Worlds in September. The rifling button is undersized so unfortunately I have had to scrape a barrel.

I need to get a rifling button made and sent to New Zealand inside of a week.

Can anybody help me with this.

Kind Regards
Jason Williams

Give me some specifics, action, caliber, barrel type, ect...
I may be able to help. It would also be helpful to know if you have your own reamer.

Thanks JS.

We have a suitable reamer.

This is an image of what I need.

The tapered end is Brazed into a rod.

Working with Trueflight for this one.

Their button supplier has a lead time of 6 weeks which is not going to work for this mission.

Who actually makes buttons?

Jason,

If you can't get the 1:12 button, couldn't trueflite run you a 1:13 twist barrel? For the 155's you'll be using it will be fine.

Richard.

Just talked to Wade Hull, the owner of Shilen Rifles. He said they made their own in house. He said for each twist and caliber they had several sizes in .0001 increments. He said different lots of steel work different. Only finding one button will not insure success.
Me thinks you are in deep Do Do!

Getting anything past customs and into your hands in Australia in a weeks time is going to be difficult.
I would try buying a barrel blank here and having it shipped as the wait time would be the same and once you receive yor only hours away from shooting it.

Lynn,
1) Donkey may have more than one barrel to make...
2) Getting a prior US r export licence from your side will take more time than any shipping...eve more than a barrelmaker delays.
3) A tool of small declared value can be sent fast and pass oit and in customs no problem...

Wow thanks guys.

I had almost given up.

I have found it rather difficult finding people that can mass produce buttons here.

DME's lead time is too long but thanks for the suggestion. It would be great if one of the barrel makers that make their own would sell me one...

Any one in Asia or Europe that you know of?

Best Regards
Jason Williams
