In tune or not is the question? 6ppc

Just one more thought. A lot of people load at a match with a volumetric powder drop. Certain powders are prone to drop quite a bit less powder by weight as humidity dries up. In the words of a HoF shooter "it gets fluffy".

Do you practice on the same targets (or some facsimile)? Many times an improper and subtle bag or rest set up causes the change in zero on the move from sighter to target. Personally I find these types of 8's and 9's more frustrating than anything in shooting competition. It's hard to find the problem, and sometimes darned expensive to fix. I've found that shooting a tight group and moving from target to target are quite often two very different challenges.

But heck, if you got to hang out with Greyfox and the guys it should have been a great day. He's one of my favorites even though we don't get to chat very often. :) WD

Yes we practice on the same target we shoot in matches, the moving from target to target I have not mastered yet. Toooo many times I think I'm good to go on sighters then on the first score target after moving over I shoot a 10 or even worse a 9. Maybe I am not watching the flags well, maybe I get lazy, maybe it's my setup I dunno but i gotta fix that.
Ps. Congrats "FANCY" slickrick on your 100 win!

I shot a lot of NRA Smallbore before I started on this and I tracked most of my POI change bull to bull to my front rest and rear bag alignment and when my rest and bag was not perfect straight and square with the target and set up with the adjustments in the rest centered on the target would change pressure on the sides of the stock on the rest/bags and cause shots to go wide left and right when moving from bull to bull,,

may not be what your dealing with but make sure your front rest is square with target and your rear bag is square and straight with front rest,,

I am not sure if a target with one side closer to the bench that the other or tilted fore or back can cause POI shifts also,,

but that was all with Smallbore and shooting sights mostly but could apply here also,,

thanks tt, I could not have done it without all your help!

I shot what ammo I had left from Sat this morning and conditions were similar ,,I was getting enough vertical to almost fit a bullet hole between the top and bottom holes,,loaded up some at 29.4 that I usually shoot in below 90* conditions and was much better but still not what I am used to,,bumped up to 29.7 and back to drilling them through the same hole,,

with the vertical everybody was getting plus the vertical I loaded into my ammo I guess I am lucky to not have shot any 8`s and a 490 isnt as bad as it could have been,,

I am going to start trying to keep better records of the conditions when I am shooting at home and see if I cant do better with deciding on what load to take on match day,,

I switched from the 35x LCS to a 40x LCS yesterday in near 100* heat and shot 2 targets that were dang near perfect,,
I think my 35x needs a tune up,,but it could also be that this load needs some extreme heat to shoot,,
