IMR 4166 and barrel life

Anyone here been shooting IMR 4166 throughout the life of a barrel and did you find the accurate life of the barrel to be reduced significantly?

My first 6mm Dasher I used 4166 for 80% of its life. A pretty hot load for a 105 Berger going 3040 FPS. The barrel lasted less than 1000 rounds before it gave up the ghost. Firecracking about 50% of the length of the barrel and no amount of tweaking would get it back under 1 moa. I’m on my second barrel now using Varget and I’m just over 1000 rounds and it still shoots great.

Kinda what I thought. Mine is a Palma barrel and the previous barrel went 2600 rounds and the one now is done at 2400. Yeah, max loads, but Varget would usually go at least 3,000 before giving it up. Just curious if anyone else was seeing the same problem.

Amazing how a “valid” conclusion can be reach from two posts!
There's plenty of powders out there. If I hear a couple reports of a certain kind that burns barrels out quicker than most. I like to know and possibly steer clear. Case in point: pistols using 'Lil gun .

I’ve not burned a barrel up with it but in doing some load development I noticed a couple things with it.

1) where the barrel heats up......I use 4350 in my Dasher and the barrel heated up, just using my hand as a gauge, much more around the shank with 4166 vs 4350

2) after using the Enduron powders, I had to shoot quite a few shots with my normal load for it it settle back down to the same group size as I was used to.

Good powder for sure, lots of speed and relatively clean but those two things stuck out about it to me.
