Please call your two Senators at 202-224-3121 and urge them to vote for the Kennedy amendment (Number 1201) to the Mil. Con. VA bill (H.R. 4366).

As of January of this year, 97.8% of the “mental defectives” who are disarmed by federal law are … wait for it … military veterans. This is outrageous that our military veterans would be treated in this fashion and disarmed after serving their country.

I also found that claim to be odd, but it appears to be true. The article is citing a finding from 2012 that says 99.3 percent. However I’d like more clarification on “mental defective.“ If they were adjudicated or what exactly their definition is. Either way I’m sure it’s unreasonable and unconstitutional.

Odd was the wrong wording. I found it hard to believe that 99 percent were vets. Especially with all of the problems we have as a nation in regards to mental illness, the amount of psychologists who are liberal, and how easy this is to accomplish.

I know this is upsetting, but yes. I’d like clarification, metal defect could mean someone is developmentally disabled. Clearly that’s not the case with these Vets. Or mental defect could be someone who isn’t fit to stand trial. The term is very broad.

Now that I think of it, the term is probably broad for a reason.

By the way, I don’t disagree with you on any of this. I hope everyone calls.

I was under the interpretation that it was ONLY referring to Vets.
Especially one that I read that had the broad term any Vet receiving compensation. Actually I think they used the word benefits. That word lights me off. I don’t receive benefits nor pension nor anything except compensation. Compensation is to financially pay someone you have injured. That’s what I receive. This does not mean there is anything deficient with my thought process.
I’m off the track as usual.
First I agree with you.
My problem is their word usage and the way these slippery bastards always slide something in.
This was said to my a doctor a few years ago: “Chuck, why do you think all those mental hospitals are closed? Do you think everyone was cured.?
Not by a long shot ( poor word choice), they emptied them and those people are walking amongst us.”
Certainly in New York State there are endless former mental facilities that were empty but being filled with migrants. They’ve been empty for years. Yes they were horrible places ( Geraldo Rivera made his start by exposing one in Staten Island NY).
They never figured out what to do with them and like the migrants arriving every day in NYC they have no clue either.
I’ve used some inappropriate words here and I mean no offense.
To group people together and just say “mentally defective “ is disgraceful. A mental deficiency may be an inability to add. And I don’t mean inability to explain randomization of numerical linear algebra.
Trust? How many vets on this site or anyone you know has received anything from Biden’s PACT ACT? It is all a feel good act to achieve another motive. ( actually part of the PACT ACT failure they wrote to a computer glitch )
