IMPORTANT -- Supreme Court Transcript HERE

This is Important.

Here is the transcript of the Oral Arguments in the DC v. Heller Second Amendment case.

If you read the text, it appears that many members of the high court were VERY skeptical of the District of Columbia's arguments. It appears at least 4 justices are in favor of an individual rights interpretation of the Second Amendment. The case will turn on the "swing votes".

You owe it to yourself to read or at least skim the transcript to review the Justice's comments. This may be the most important gun rights case in U.S. history.

When I read them yesterday: You could almost hear the tone.

Wish I could have seen it live I bet the non-verbal and the sharpness of the replies would have been worth a 2 day wait in line.

I also felt when reading that the justices support the right to "KEEP" and "BEAR" arms, which appeared to me 2 separate issues. I thought Gen Clement was somewhat surprised and was striving for something less and the court was willing to offer more. IE: machine guns etc. as a right and use the current system of Felons etc. to limit by "Who".

Many of the published reports also suggest Dennis's view. I'm anxious to read it today in a couple of liberal rags, USA Today for sure.

It was too bad Obamma's stuff was more important to the news. I'll bet no one stood in line for 2 days to watch that.

It is utterly amazing to step back an look at America and how great she is. We are such a lucky community of individuals.

One thing I see right off is in those pockets of our population where the political subdivision "knows what is best for our own good" the popuation is generally bimodal as being either highly educated and poorly educated, wealthy and poor and having a higher minority ethnicity than the country as a whole.

These population pockets are socialistic in comparison to the whole countries population. The outcome of this Supreme Court case will be historical no matter the outcome. It will show how strong our country can be. If it goes bad for the Individual rights/Gun Rights, it want be the begining of the end of America as we know it. It will be the begining run away snow ball for the end of America as we have known it.

It will be real interested reading the justices opinions. This is the only branch of government that was not elected to represent us and they may have the final say.

I would love to be sitting at a dinner table with Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson and the rest of the Federalist to hear their commentary on the supreme court today.

Just when we think things are in the toilet, we are reassured that our "Three Branch" System of Government can work.
It always puzzled me that various Gonvernment entities could pass laws that were contrary to the "bear arms" clause of the 2d Admendment. It seems that the Court has never really addressed it.
It was always the question as to whether the 2d Admendment was about "group rights",,the militia thing) or individual rights.
If the Court decides that the 2d Admendment is truly about individual rights, then this is going to completely change the way Gun Laws can be imposed upon Law Abiding Citizens.
I think Justice Anthony Scalia would make a great President. Is there any rule saying he could not step down from the Court and run.....jackie

I have been reading some of the briefs filed for DC vs Heller, listened to the oral arguments,C-Span),reading various websites. Trying to get an understanding of the case.

I believe the court will indeed determine that an individual right exists.

The part that troubles me, has to do with the "standard of review" to be adopted. Strict scrutiny vs "reasonable",in legal sense, not common)

In other words is "The right to keep and bear arms" a fundamental right due all citizens of the United States in the same light as "freedom of speech"?

I think it should!

That is where Supreme Court could make or break unreasonable gun legislation!

I hope to hell this court has the balls to make the right call!

Justice scalia step down and become president. Heaven forbid"

We are better off having him there on the bench for LIFE"
If he became president he would only be effective for 8 years"'
