Some of you may remember my posts last year about the gun I was having built. It is on a trued 700 action. I took it to the local Gander Mountain and they sent it to the main store and screwed on a fluted stainless Krieger 10 in twist barrel in .243 Win. This is a hunting gun made to cull does and scrub bucks. It has a factory Rem laminated stock and factory trigger. It wears a Burris 4.5-14x50. I bedded it myself with acraglas. I developed a R19load last year with 90 grain speers that seemed to work fine. I wanted try H4831 and 85grain bullets. I loaded a ladder test and went to the range. I stapled targets to the 200 yd board and warmed up by shooting a 3 shot group of the old 90gr load. The results are below:
I was feeling pretty good after shooting a .9in 200 yd group. I ran a couple of patches down the barrel and got down to business with the ladder test. After the first 4 shoots I was feeling pretty good although they were lower velocity than I wanted. I kept shooting and this is what I ended up with:
Rounds 14, 15 and 16 go into about .36 inches. Please tell me this is good.
