If You Could Spec Out a Mid/Long Range BR and F Class Scope

If you had the opportunity to design a scope for mid/long range bench rest and F Class what would you want. Also add what you do not need. I'll start:

Want in order of priority:
1. Holds POA (no reticle shift/movement)
2. Good glass--doesn't need to be exceptional. NF BR/Vortex GE equivalent
3. Choice of reticles with one like the NF DDR-2
4. 20-60X60 power and objective with 30mm tube
5. 30oz or lighter
6. Side parallax adjustment
7. 3.25" eye relief or more
8. .125" MOA click value

Don't need:
Illuminated reticle
Zero stop
Tactical turrets
FFP

No right or wrong here, just share your thoughts.

Your list looks good to me, except I'd love to get NF Comp glass in my Vortex GE. Thats the only thing I miss.

This is what I would spec out for a dedicated F-TR scope:

1) 52-56 mm objective
2) Outstanding glass...like the Schott glass in an IOR-Valdada BR scope
3) Crosshair with floating 0.125 MOA dot reticle
4) Minimum 50 MOA total elevation travel (34 mm tube???)
5) 1/8th MOA turret adjustment
6) ~7-35X mag range (less than 40X upper limit)
7) Weight </= 29 oz
8) Side parallax adjustment

Some other [pretty obvious] requirements:

Scope must hold rock solid zero/no reticle movement>>>DUH!!!
No crappy or mushy turret clicks
Don't cheap out and provide a half-assed scope cover for a $2K+ scope
Include sunshade attachment

Kahles MOAK as is with a 5 to 50 adjustment range. Maybe with a 34mm tube and 100min elevation adjustment........I guess that's kind of a blending of Kahles & March..............HMMMMMMMMM........That's what I use, imagine that.....;)

Regards
Rick

50mm objective. Probably a triplet style design. They are much sharper. I do not think i have ever seen a scope with that.
20-70x
34mm tube.
1/16in or 1/20millclicks
carbon fiber tube for lightness.

Richs list plus a minimum of 70 minutes of internal adjustments

I would add a few things that I haven't seen yet...
  • POA doesn't change when adjusting magnification. I find sometimes wish I had a larger FOV mid match.
  • Fast focus diopter adjustment
  • Turrets with either 3 set screws, or a positive spline and coin slot screw. Something that isn't gonna slip
  • Side focus with properly calibrated parallax yardages
