If It's Tuesday It Must Be. . . The Golf Course

Got a call yesterday that one of the nine holes would be closed for maintenance at the golf course.

Cruised the nine from 10:30 to 2 and shot five ghogs at 24, 34, 64, 66 and 78 with the .17 HMR. All were head or neck shots. Two were sniped by crawling up behind a small elevation. The rest were from the golf cart. All were along the edges of the course either from tall weeds or wooded areas, except for the first one which was at the edge of a lake between the weeds and the cart path. A variety of males and females. All were good sized. No monsters. No youngsters. 2 pics per hog.

A few groundhogs causes the hole to be closed?? WOW

It's more likely that they closed the 9 so he could come out and shoot the culprits. They can cause more damage than a 9 might take in for one day.

Historically the course closed one of the three nines every Tuesday for maintenance and I would take a golf cart and drive up and down the course from 1 to 9 and back. Three years ago they stopped that practice with the new owner. They've reinstituted the old practice on and off for the past several weeks and I've been able to take a total of 16 ghogs. Four years ago when I started hunting there I would take more than that in a day. They were infested!
