IDENTIFYING SAKO RIFLES

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
Is there anyone who could identify a sako rifle with a l691 reciever, fiberglass typical square ended stock,.300 weatherby chambering, all matte gray black finish on all the metal except bolt handle which is shiny bright steel, heavy barrel.

Not sure what info you need? If you already know it is a Sako L-691 in 300 WBY, what's left to identify?
The fiberglass stock might be aftermarket I suppose.
Very nice rifle by the way ;)

They made a Fiberclass model. That one I believe had no sights on the barrel. Also made a Finnbear with sights that sometimes would have a glass stock added to it. The Fiberclass had a top notch glass stock on it that I want to say was a McMillan but that isn't 100% positive.

To my knowledge, Sako never chambered any Weatherby cartridges. A pic would help. Ask over here: www.sakocollectors.com

I did some research on that, and they did do WBY rounds. At least the 300 WBY anyhow. I never knew they made a Finnbear with a fiberglass stock though. I'd assume that would be very collectible if all factory original because I have always been a Sako fan and have never seen such a model.

I definitely agree with tenring on the pictures, any jonbear can post would be very nice.

I will try to get pics soon if I can get ahold of my friend. It struck me as odd due to it looking tactical sort of and the .300 wby chambering with a heavy tapered barrel.
