Identify My Savage Trigger

nickster

Silver $$ Contributor
I recently purchased a Savage 112 in .223. It's in great shape and if it would stop snowing and blowing I'd try to get some rounds off. I'm trying to identify the trigger. I've not seen one like it before, and maybe it's just a factory trigger off of a 20+ year old gun. I also would like to find some instructions for adjusting all those screws. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is a factory savage trigger. at There are a couple of adjustments that are obvious, sear engagement and trigger spring tension. At the back there are the over travel and safety adjustments. I forget which is which, but if you carefully examine the trigger I think that you can figure them out. If you run the over travel in too far you will not be able to fire the rifle, and if you do not run the safety adjustment in far enough it will not work. You will be able to fire the rifle with the safety on. Too far and you cannot engage the safety comfortably. Any trigger adjustment should be able to pass slamming the bolt closed, thumping the butt on the floor, and slapping the comb really hard. Trigger designs have their limits as to how light they can be safely adjusted. We need to respect those limits.

Thanks to you both. I did find the instructions on the link and printed them off. Not sure I want to change it but nice to know how to do it if I ever have to.

Lighter wire for the spring, LIGHTLY polish the sear contact, and adjust as detailed on the savageshooter directions and you can have a safe and nicer trigger.
