If it's only balance you're after drill out some holes under the buttplate and pour in some lead or add steel rods all depending how much you need for a balance. I have done this many times and it worked out well but do not pour into a laminated stock. Don't pour in too much as you may have a reverse problem

Take the buttpad off and drill holes. I've done it using both spur bits and drills, doesn't really matter except that spur bits can make a larger hole. Then you can use a drill bit to open up between the holes. Pour in a little casting resin, some lead shot, and stir it up..... then more resin and more shot and stir some more. Keep doing that until the whole thing is full. It'll be mostly lead shot with just enough resin to fill the gaps and keep things held together with no rattles. I've weighted a bunch of stocks this way. Using molten lead didn't work as well for me, it just cracked the wood.

Deep holes and lead shot capped off works for me, kinda scary thinking about pouring molten lead in any kind of a wood stock :,

i have used old pistol bullets and "great stuff" foam filler from lowes. it can be removed and changed if you change barrels.
