Ideas and recommendations for light weight hunting stock

Here is the project so far: Winchester Classic action .300 Win Mag in a really bad tupperware stock. Rifle was bought for a value. Factory barrel cleaned up well, and is being opened up for .300RUM. I'd like to make a more lightweight "mountain" rifle out of it to compliment my collection of heavier Sendero type rifles.

I am leaning toward the McMillian Edge stock, but if anyone has other suggestions please let me know. I want to stay with a synthetic stock as where I hunt in Idaho, the weather changes continuously.

I have 3 Brown Prcesion stocks. Two are the "pounders" about 16oz un-finnished they use KEVLAR to lower weight and increase strength. They will install and finnish for you or you can buy the "rough" stock and do the fit/ glass/ and finnish. The rough stock requires a lot of work cutting and finnishing with epoxy and glass. If you have never worked fitting a stock (wood) and glassbedded or worked with glass cloth and epoxy you may not want to try this rough stock. The finnished pounder is about 3 to 4oz heavier depending on the amount of epoxy and the weight of the pad installed. I love my stocks. Maybe its because of all the work to finnish them.

Bansner stocks are good, with a good bit of work. Edge's are far nicer as they come, but then, they cost twice as much.
