IBS 600 yard points

I'm curious how others interpret the 600 yard SOY points for counting non IBS shooters. I know most clubs only count IBS shooters in the total but it's hard to tell on some results if they have been counting non IBS shooters in figuring the total # of shooters and thus the points available. It really doesn't matter to me as long as everyone uses the same rules but as it is written it doesn't state they have to be an IBS member to be counted in the total # of shooters.

By all means we need to encourage non IBS shooters to come shoot so I wouldn't want the rules to say they have to be IBS members.

Attached is a copy of the paragraph in the 600 SOY rules:

The way it reads to me, everyone who is shooting is counted. To me, since non IBS competitors are not eligible to receive points, ONLY IBS member shooters should be counted to determine the amount of points available for the match. Non members should still be encouraged to shoot but their results kept separate. We've talked about this quite a bit and I get both sides but this is my opinion.

In my opinion it's a no brainer. Only IBS member participants should be counted to determine points awarded. It doesn't seem logical to count non-IBS members to determine points awarded when they are not eligible to receive points. Just my opinion.

It's allready in the rules.

"B) Registration
1) All competitors at every Registered Tournament shall be required to complete a registration form
supplied by IBS and to produce, for inspection, a current IBS, IBS International or NBRSA
Membership Card."

NBRSA membership was removed last year.

They don't count for points……. only IBS members. They can shoot twice without belonging to the IBS. I believe this the way it's done, i could be wrong but i don't think so…….. jim

Thanks Terry. I must have been looking in the 600/1000 yard section of the rule book and missed it.

I think it's great that the clubs allow non members to come out and shoot and give it a try. As long as the results are figured on IBS members only that is fine with me.

Any one can come and shoot but only IBS members results count. We have had non members shoot at our club and would have taken wood home but didn't because they were not members. We encourage ever one to join, you don't know when you might shoot that screamer group :'(

We give those who have not belonged to the IBS or NBRSA the opportunity to join for just $10.00 more than our match fees.
We cover the balance. That way we have all members shooting. They appreciate the kindness and retun for other matches.
