I4007SSC and 60gr. Sierra in 22-250?

Just got some 60gr. Sierra #1375 and wanted to try I4007SSC but, all my resources for load data don't show anything about this powder with a 60gr. bullet with the 22-250. Hodgdon shows it with 55gr. and 63gr. but, not with the 60gr. bullet. I wonder why this is? I'm thinking this would be a good powder considering its in between H380 and H414 for burn speed. Would I be safe using the starting and max powder charges for the 63gr. bullet? In my mind I would be but, not 100% sure! Thanks for the help!

Call the techs at sierra or hornady and see what they suggest.I do not understand why you want to use this in lieu of varget or h380 etc.

i love the 60 gr sierra in the 22-250. i shoot a factory rem 700 that eats up vv550 with it and a custon kreiger that shines with vv540. both guns shoot small hole in paper and small entry holes in ghogs with LARGE exit holes. 60 bergers do as well as long as you don't spin them too fast...they come apart in a 1in8 twist. [/quote] if i can see yoy, i can touch you.BANG!

I think Jon is saying that Varget & H380 would be better choices & I would 2nd that. On the other hand , why swith from what you have if it's that good? ;D

To be honest, I was thinking Varget was a little on the fast side. As far as burn rate that is. I'm not opposed to trying it, if thats what you're thinking. The reason I'm steering clear of H380 is that it leaves the barrel real dirty. The I4007SSC doesn't leave the barrel near as dirty as H380. I haven't tried the I4007SSC with the 60gr. Sierras yet. May just have to try some Varget and see what happens!

Also, look at Hodgdon's load profile for 22-250 and 60gr Hornady. It mirrors that of the 52 gr Amax. What's up with that? Just seems like way too much powder to me is all!

H380 might be a little dirty but I run Mag primers with it & it really hasn't been a big issue for me, but it meters fantastic. Varget is a really good powder for it and a few guys run H4350 with good results. Best news is you get to play with some loads.

Without a doubt, H380 meters great! I haven't tried mag primers too much, haven't seen a difference between them and std. primers as far as what the paper tells me. Don't have any H4350 around. I should being that I have a .243 but, don't. I'll get to play with some loads here soon.
