I need some opinions: Best suppressor for .308

I know that many on the site use suppressors. What's best for .308 Win given the following:

My barrel length is 23", so I don't want to go to a suppressor much longer than 8".

I am hoping for -32+ db.

I am on a budget so $$$ count.

thanks!

I have a Shark 308 can, the SN is 427COBRA, it's not cheap, but it is IMHO the best 308 can on the market, no stamped parts inside, the baffles, end caps, and tube are titanium, the blast baffle and blast chamber are inconel, my can has been on my 308, AR15's and 260, my friends AR10, and 260 bolt gun, it has zero POI shift in my experience, buy once cry once.

I have a Thunderbeast Arms 30P1 sitting on paperwork from my Class III dealer. Form 4's are pending. Will let you know when I get it. Plan or using it on my 243AI and 6.5 x 284 tactical rifles. Haven't heard anything bad from anyone yet. Made out of Ti and available in mult. colors. Scott

I use Quicksilver titanium suppressor and it is most excellent. My zero does not change when putting on and taking off the suppressor: not sure how they accomplish that. silencerresearch.com performs independent testing of suppressors and rates their performance. If you are going to invest a large sum into a suppressor, then I strongly suggest you pay their small fee and get some great research. This is what led me to quicksilver and I have not been disappointed.

Go with a S.A.S. Arbitor. Should run you less than 8 bills. I heard one shot next to the SHARK and you couldn't tell the difference. They both sound great. Its Ti so, its light weight. Don't fall in to the trap that "you have to clean" a centerfire can. Hog wash!!! I just sent my SHARK Jaws in to David so he can take it apart to clean it. I have $25 shipping plus he charges $65 to take it apart and clean. All that to take a can apart that has less than 500 rounds through it. (I'm having it cleaned so I can put it up for sale).

Mile high shooting is a stocking dealer for S.A.S. and they have them in stock. You can go: Direct Thread, Thread Over Muzzle Brake or QD. The brake mount makes the most sense because it still uses threads to tighten down the can and the brake acts as a replacable blast baffle.

Good luck and enjoy.

I have 12 suppressor and a 10 pending. I have read up and there are many very good brands with good service. I have bought mostly AWC and been very impressed with their work and service. YHM is also good and a great value. Thunder Beast Arms everyone seems to love but I have no personal experience with them. Liberty I have also heard great things about but not shot. I have two pending cans in .308 a SWR and a Thor Ti AWC I should get the stamp back on the SWR in a week and the AWC in 45-60 more days. I suggest you buy something that is in stock if possible as the wait is ridiculous enough as it is. My first two cans were AWC steel .338 and .556 I love them they are built like tanks and ear safe for anything I have put through them. On my .338LM I have shot a .338-.408 CheyTac wildcat with 300 grain bullets loaded to chrono at 3300 feet per second and it was ear safe and held up fine. That is one tough suppressor well worth the high purchase price. After these I realized how much I would like the weight to be lower so I now have only been ordering and a waiting on Ti cans. I just got two more AWC THOR Ti items one in .556 (my other is steel) and one in a .510 Whisper they are light weight and very impressive. I have shot them and not noticed much if any poi change. Good luck PG
