I need QuickLoad help quickly

Ok, I know this is a weird tale, but I need someone to run a quickload sheet for me so that I have an idea of the pressures I'm playing with. QL is on my desktop at home and I need someone to help me out.

I started load development on this barrel on January 12th. QL told me that I needed 2,980 fps to get to OBT time (1.4351). I worked up a load (see QL chart below), tested it and even shot a 300 yard match at Bayou Rifle. So far everything is well and I have 187 rounds through the barrel, it should be stable by now. I get busy reloading for Phoenix.

I leave Houston for my first trip to Berger SWN. On Tuesday (2/10)the day of my shooting clinic we go to the 1K yard range and with 22 1/2 MOA of elevation my first shot hit the top of the target. To get in the X ring I have to crank it down to 20 1/2 MOA and the rifle is shooting well (99-2X out of 10). I'm not getting any signs of high pressure. I go back to the Berger ballistic calculator and input the data that I had and by playing with, and the numbers tell me that my bullet needs to go at 3,070 fps to correspond to my scope elevation. At this point alarm bells are going off all over my head. I'm thinking that my chamber pressure has to be in 70K+ neighborhood and should really be getting MAJOR PRESSURE SIGNS, but I'm not. I'm 90 fps out of my node should be in a scatter mode but I'm not. I'm totally confused.

On Wednesday, we have our first (600 yard) match. I started getting flyers from the first relay and I have to crank down to 9 MOA. As the day progressed the flyers got worse, to the point that I had no idea where the next bullet was going to go. The recoil has gotten palpably stronger, but still no signs of pressure. When I got back to the hotel I put in the number into the Berger calculator and it tells me that the bullet is going at 3,133 fps. How is it even possible that a barrel can accelerate that much??? With no signs of pressure??? At this point the ammo is loaded and I have no choice but to make the best of it.

Anyone out there can run a QL sim for me?

Kindest regards,

Joe

Joe,

Ran your numbers and got the same results.
Big question:
1. What is the actual OAL? (you show OAL 3.148 vs CBTO 3.325)

Also, Ben Avery is 1637' not 1200'

Calaculated elevation correction from Houston 100yd to Ben Avery 600yd is 10.44 moa. (can't seem to insert the calc document)

Bill

When you use Quickload you need to make sure the weighting factor is correct for your cartridge. The default values are incorrect for some of them.

Try putting your ammo in a cooler to keep the temp the same till you get ready to shoot and try to only get out what you need hope it helps it has worked in hot weather for me but I know some that get the cooler to room temp and use on cold days
