I need help

Hello, this is my time ever writing, so please bare with my stupidity. I am in need of some serious help, I recieved a few rifles from grandpa I have one I just dont know anything about. It is a Belgium made Mauser, the bullets I got with this gun are what confuse me thet are 7mm Rem Mags that are Ackley improved and shoot a 6.5mm bullet.I have no idea what I have or what i should do with it any information on reloading or just general knowledge would be greatly appreciated, thanks for looking and im sorry if i waisted your time.

I would recommend you visit a gunsmith and ask him to do a chamber casting on your gun. This will tell you exactly what the chambering is and if there are any issues with it. Once you know the chambering specs you can visit some of the Mauser sites and see if anyone there has the same or similar cartridge and can give you some reloading help. The gunsmith can also examine the gun and see if there are any issues that make the gun unsafe to shoot. Some of these old Mausers are excellent rifles, some have not been converted very well or were a poor choice to start with,i.e., poor metallurgy, an action too weak for the cartridge, etc.

Get your rifle to a qualified rifle smith. Tell us where you are located and someone here can probably recommend one in your area

hello,I just went back too my PO Ackley books and this is what I came up with.
6.7x60 Eichhorn Gamlakarleby,6.5 E.G.M.)
6.5 ICL Magnum
6.5/300 Wright-Hoyer
6.5 Apex Magnum
6.5 Super Magnum,Mashburn)
6.5 Critser Express
note one thing most of these are based off of the 300 H&H case.but that doesn't mean that it may or may not be your case.it may have started out with a 300 H&H but someone found out one can use 7mm mag cases.I use 300 H&H cases sometimes too make 300 Weatherby ackley imp. cases.Ackley's books showed alot of them useing that case.but if it was me I would still take the rifel and a case too a gun smith with the info that I've given ya and go from there.hope that this will help ya.
