I just received new BIB 6mm 95grn. bullets

I just received new BIB 6BR 95grn. bullets. Today I did first test shooting. After talking to Randy I made my first test load using VARGET 31.3 grn. and jammed bullets to 0.015" in 28" barrel. I set up my shooting bench to 200 yards and shoot the first 5 shoots group using Randy's bullets. The group seemed to be awfully small looking through my scope. After measuring I found out that the group measured only 0.175" and after that I did not need anymore testing. My chronograph read velocity 3000 f/s and ES 6. With a big smile on my face I was leaving the shooting ranch. When I arrived home, the first thing I did was I called Mr.Robinett and thanked him one more time for making my day.

I shot his 95's out of a Krieger 1 7.5 twist in a 6 dasher and they shot under 1" at 300 yds at a vel of 3036 fps using 33.5 grns of Varget and a ES of 8 fps at 200 yds they shot a group agg for 20 shots of .221 Sad thing is the barrel would not shoot a VLD at all so I sent it back for replacement.
What Twist is your barrel? I believe the 95's were tested at 600 yds last yr out of a 8.5 twist and they just didn't fair well as the twist was too fast for them as the recommended twist is a 10, I have a 8.5 twist being made I'll chamber in a 6 Dasher and will use Randy's new 108 in it alone with Berger 105's
Randy makes a fine bullet this is for sure

Milan, thank you for the kind words - I sure wish you had shot some more - I'm starvin'' here! ;)

James, thank you too!

Though Henry Childs,HBC) and others have chastised me for equating twist/RPM,centrifugal forces) with bullet failure, a 7.5" twist rate SCARES me - the IDEAL twist for the 95 is 1:10",Sg = 1.5 @ Std. conditions). Assuming they pass muster, even the new 121 Gr. FB will require only a 1:8" twist rate - none of that radical, precision robbing "faster" is better stuff.

On his web page, Dan Lilja,Lilja Rifle Barrels: < riflebarrels.com > )has some very informative articles regarding this topic . . . At risk of being an idiot, in general, a FB bullet of equal or, slightly greater weight, compared to a BT, is shorter, thus requires less RPM for equal or greater Sg. And CG offset+RPM equals larger groups . . well, that's the theory! ;)

I just received some preliminary results from HBC's initial results with the new BIB 108 and 121 Gr. bullets - via his 7" twist barrel, the 121 show promise, while the 108s are going to disintegrate - this IS as I expected. In our local testing, though limited to just a few barrels, in "cool" weather, we have been unable to destroy either the 95s or, 108s via 9" twist barrels - this at any realistic pressure/velocity obtainable from a 6mm Re. and/or 6x250 Ack. Imp., with several powders,H-4350; N-540; Varget; RL-15). We have one 8" twist barrel which "vaporizes" the 95 and 108s as soon as we hit pressure/MV of 3100 FPS. There are so many variables involved here, possibly, including rifling profile, land/groove diameters, etc.

By the way, via our 8" twist barrels,6x250 Ack. Imp.), the 95s do not survive at pressure/Mvs in excess of 3100 FPS: call me ignorant - I do not recommend 8" twist barrels for the 95s. I am surprised by the excellent results people are experiencing/reporting via 8" twist 6BR/Dasher/BRX cases; I must confess, I did not expect such good results via this model. Further, I stand by my belief that when combined with a 10" twist, the 95 will prove even better; a 9" twist provides a good compromise - it is perfect for the 108s!;) R.G.

Randy,

If the weather holds out tomorrow as for the wind goes I'll be testing the 108's I got from you in a 6 Dasher with an 8 twiust barrel. So we'll see how they hold up and where they may come apart at. as your 95's came apart at 3200 fps from a 7.5 twist but shot real well at 3036 fps in the same barrel I found another accuracy node at 3174 but it was too close to the 3200 to even think about. Below is a 5 shot group shot at 300 yds.
The rifle is my Rem 40x switch barrel Jewell Triger Shehane stock 12-42 NF scope.
Once I get my new barrel back from Krieger in a 8.5 twist I'll be testing them in it as well.
