Folks I have been working on a new light weight version of my Rodzilla T-Rex front rest which I am calling the new RAPTOR.
It is now on my web sight and you can see it at:
therodzilla.com
We are still adding content on the website but the pictures are up and some good information on what makes my Raptor different than my original T-Rex.
Here are the highlights:
The new Raptor is 40% lighter, has a 33% larger footprint, and takes up 43% less space than my T-Rex. The bench feet come with it and sand feet are optional. The feet are quickly removable so you no longer need to unscrew the threaded studs to fold the legs under the base for storage. The legs rotate on Teflon bearings and there is no lube required and there is no play in the joints. All parts are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and protected with hard anodizing in black. The guide posts are now ceramic coated aluminum for weight reduction. I am offering an optional high quality hard case for my new Raptor. And I am also sourcing a lightweight Cary bag with pockets for feet and tools. Think, a small range bag.
The Raptor retains the same super smooth X-Y ball bearing movements and has a couple new features. One of my design parameters was to make the new base retro-fit the existing T-Rex so you will have the option to replace your steel base and steel guide posts and reduce the weight by 6.5Lbs. This gets the original down to just 16.5 Lbs of total weight and improvements in foot print and less size. The process to change your T-Rex base to a Raptor is a simple-one bolt process. Because of the price difference I will continue to offer the T-Rex as well as the Raptor.
