I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
I started with an older flat back long action in .223,yes .223. Then I picked up a used bvss stock in near new condition.I milled out the magazine box area to accept the staggered feed mag box. Once that was done,I beeded it with marine tex.I bought a Mc Gowen barrel in 7.62x39mm stainless barrel in the .310 groove to accept stock factory ammo such as the lapua which shoots lights out! I added a heavy recoil lug and set the headspace using a bolt head recut by sss for 6ppc. I had to use the 3 screw trigger for now,it is too heavy but it breaks clean. I added a egw picatinny and bedded it to the reciever using accraglas(it pops right off after setting up and leaves the permanant shim intack). I had a bushnell 4-16-50 sitting around so I stuck it on.I finally got a few minutes to try it today and the lapua shot 2 back to back .350 groups.I switched ammo to the cheaper russian fodder and it shot under a half inch. I shot it again and it made a nice little hole. I would say I did it.I made a fun gun for me or my girl or even the grand kids and I can shoot for cheap or reload and just have plain fun.I want to thank everyone for the response's when I needed a little advice. What do you think Wayne?
