HYDRO DIPPING/WATER TRANSFER

I'm looking for information from anyone that has had a stock done....either hydro dipping or water transfer. Name of the company/individual and phone# and how satisfied you were with the completed project......looking to get a BR stock done......thanks.

Paul

My experience was the water transfer was acceptable but the clear coat work was poor and the service was worse. Right now it is getting resprayed by a real stock finisher. The company was in FL, wouldn't use them again.

It's freaking hard to do, I bought a heated tank and all the works last year to do my stock and some other projects... Needless to say I rolled it all in the corner and started cerakoting.

Yes! I live just up the road from an outfit called Hydro Graphics and they've put a huge investment into this in time and effort and produce really good results. Since I'm talking about just up the road from York in northern England, that's no good to most people on this forum though.

Just to show how few people or companies have the necessary skills levels, I found several hundred Zeiss scope bodies in the shop one visit some years ago that had been shipped over from Germany for dipping in a desert sand camo finish for a large military sniper contract, and which couldn't be done to the required standards back in Zeiss-land, or apparently anywhere else in continental Europe. On finishing, they were carefully packaged up and returned to Zeiss for the internal bits and lenses to be fitted.

Their work is really good, but as a company that specialises in various sorts of top level custom paintwork, artwork, and finishing with cars, boats, motorcycles, even a light aircraft I'm told, I think that dipping is maybe a bit out of fashion these days and painting work will be their mainstay now.

Paul, I've done three stocks myself and had them hydro dip printed. The Company I used is "DeadeyeLiquidGraphics@gmail.com". These guys did an excellent job of finishing the surface, dipping the stock and sprayed several coats of automotive clear coat. The stock came out with a very hard, smooth and perfect surface. I did one American Flag and two Camo pattern stocks. Check out their web site for different print patterns.

If you check in the gear reviews on the home page you will find a write up of a company in Idaho that does what you want and they will answer any questions and provide pricing for their services.

If you don't find a place to do what you want send me a PM. Have a local guy here in Western WA that has done 3 stocks for me and one for a friend. All turned out exceptionally well. He does window tinting as a trade and hydro dips car parts. Stocks can be challenging. Expect to pay around $200.00 (don't quote me on that) and that would include shipping back to you.

I would recommend both of these as Each one has done a stock for me.
Black Ice Coatings in Salt Lake City, or HydroDip Inc in Meridian, ID. The best price was BlackIce, at $150.00. HydroDip was a little bit more expensive but both were high quality work.

I had a stock done by Tactical Graphics LLC in Melborne, FL. Their base price is just over 100 bucks, but I requested a special two tone fade for the base coat plus an extra coat of clear and along with the separately dipped cheek piece, the price increased to just shy of a hundred and a half.

The good news is that their competitors wanted between $200 and $300 for the same job and a 4 to 6 week turn around, these guys had the completed stock back in my hands 7 days after they received it. Nice work too. Highly recommended.

We have some locations here in Michigan as well that hydro dip items. Guns stocks run around 100.00. Complete guns around 150-200 depending in style and Optics included. 200.00 for just a stock would certainly give me reason to shop elsewhere. I'm getting a scope done and was qouted about 60.00. He said it included more work covering up areas like turret adjustment readings and glass etc. Easy to understand the extra work involved on an optic. Also I was told that certain patterns being patented patterns cost more than others so cost varies. Solid colors would be less expensive. Seems a bit cheaper than cerakote but also a different process.

Guys,

Thanks for all the informative replies...greatly appreciated. I have looked at over a dozen companies and it seems that the same patterns are available....some have more than others. I'm looking for something in bright green/black or bright orange/charcoal.....preferably some type of an abstract pattern.....only found one that was close. I will check out the suggestions listed above as some are new to my list that I developed some time ago.....again, a BIG THANK YOU to all that posted a reply.

Paul,

I believe Alex Wheeler sends his stocks out to be hydro dipped, shoot him a PM and ask who he uses.....

Just a thought...

Phil.

That's the type of company you can work with. Good example which needs to be supported.

ADDED:

Unfortunately, I just read their website so my excitement has been dulled...
