Hydro Dip questions

I this stuff as durable as paint?

Is there any way to protect your stocks bedding on a stock that is already bedded?

Can this be applied to a scope?

I would suggest that you contact Hydro dip directly by E-mail or Phone. They have a great website also.

I certainly intend to give them a call, but the nice thing about this forum is, that occasionally we get to hear some feed back from some folks that have taken some of these fine products out into the field for a spin.

I haven't had one of my rifles done yet. However, keep in mind that you can, normally) shoot clear-coat over the Hydro-Dip pattern. Then the coating would be as durable as paint.

In a single sentence; Yes, the entire process is as durable as paint. In fact, the pattern is covered with a clear coat auto finish when it is done and before it is shipped back to you. You have an option as to what degree of gloss you want on your finished product. I know a few who have had this done and they have had nothing but praise about the whole experience. Keep in mind these guys take care of their benchrest rifles. I shoot benchrest. On the www.hydro-dip.com website you can see that they apply their product to scopes, ATVs, motorcycles, statuary,I bet the pigeons love it), and all kinds of other things that need to look pretty. My rifle went in the mail today for a treatment. I'll be able to better tell you all about it in about two weeks but I'm not going to intentionally give it the drop test to prove its durablity. I'll leave that to you. I guess this was more than a single sentence.
I forgot to add that they mask off the bedding area before anything is done so as to not change the dimensions there. On their web site there is a picture of a stock and you can clearly see the bedding isn't coated.

Also, big also, for those who want a BR rig done, Scott has told me the entire process weighs less than some paint jobs. I have seen a few paint jobs that have put you over the limit for LV with the original barrel and scope. The IBS Hunter Class stock I sent them today weighed 28.7 ounces painted but stripped of a butt plate, trigger guard, etc. Complete and ready to shoot it weighed 9 pounds 14 ounces. This is in a class where you shoot with a 6 power scope and the package can't go over 10 pounds. It did have a decent looking paint job. One motivation for sending it was that they told me with their removal of the original paint and then the application of their finish, I would lose weight. This will make my doctor feel good. This stock looked good to me until I looked closely. It did have a few pits and marks and they said they'd eliminate those.
