Huray for Mid South!!!

About a month ago I ordered a RCBS Chargemaster Combo from Mid
South Shooting Supply. Within a week the scale started to drift like crazy. I looked at RCBS's return policy and I would have to pay the shipping to them plus give them a check for $40 for return postage. So I called MidSouth, explained that I didn't think that I should have to pay again to get a working product! They agreed and, sent a call tag then sent me a New unit all on ther dime! Now that's SERVICE!!!
It's unfortunate that the middle man has to pay when the manufacturer sends out bad merchendise.
Thank You Mid South, You will be seeing more of my money soon!

I've placed orders with them, the item is "out of stock", but when they get the item and ship it, it's at the "old" advertised price, even though the manufacturer raised the price. This happened a while back when the price of factory jacketed bullets ( boxes of 250) really began to increase, almost on a weekly basis.

There great to do business with, and they do a lot of it, which puts them is a vary good position to deal with there suppliers over return costs and even repairs to equipment they sold.
The bottom line is, they (Mid South) will get it back from the Mfg. RCBS cares more about there business with Mid South, than they do about theirs with you, unfortunately.
But what ever works. You buy 2 or 3 items a year from RCBS, and Mid South buys 2 or 3,000 items a month, there a much better (spelled Bigger) customer than we are.
Mike.

This is my first time to ever hear of RCBS charging anything to make good on any of their products. I hope this is not the way of the future for them. Larry in western Ky.

Michael, did you contact RCBS about this or just read it? I've had nothing but good experience with RCBS customer service and have to wonder if they wouldn't have made it right. A couple times they have just sent me replacement parts based on my word. They didn't require the defective part returned or anything.

I'm glad MidSouth made it right though. At least half my Internet business is done with them. Great prices and great service. Plus if I ever have to call them I seem to always get someone with a sweet Southern voice, which I have a particular weakness for. I can't help but buy something.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but here is something I have found about these machines.

I was having a similar problem and read about the problem being the power supply causing the problem. Somewhere I read that using two magnets on the power cords would help - seemed kind of strange but what the hell..... I took two small but powerful magnets that I use to secure my Imperial Sizing Wax cans to my metal reloading table top and put them opposing each other on the incoming power cord between the converter and the machine - now no more drifting.

Go figure!

In answer to wether I had contacted RCBS, No. I read ther return policy in the back of the instructions. Tried a choke on the original power supply but, it did not help.

I had a problem with my RCBS unit - it would not calibrate normally. I called RCBS and was asked if the unit was over a year old. I told them it was "about a year old". The rep asked for the serial number from the bottom of the unit. Apparently from the number he determined that it was just under a year old. He told me to ship the entire unit back and that it would be replaced. I asked if there were going to repair it or replace it. He said that as soon as they received my unit that a new-in-the-box unit would be shipped out free of charge.

That's exactly what happened. The new unit works perfectly.

You can go to Fry's or whatever your local electronics small parts emporium is and buy some ferrite beads for a few bucks... which are basically what you created. Though from reading about people's experiences with these things regarding sensitivity to power line noise, if I ever got one I'd be tempted to put it behind a Tripp-Lite power conditioner or an in-line UPS, because I can be obsessive like that ;D

I hate to be a shit, but I hate those damn things, all of them. I know lots of you use them and love them but I could never get one to work as fast or as good as they say it will. So I bought a Vibra-shine power trickler and a tricked out 10-10 scale. Now reloading is fun agian, fast and accurate and cost less too.
