Hunter Benchrest?

Can someone explain "hunter benchrest" to me? The rifle/cartridge restrictions, what works well, what doesn't?

I'm a highpower shooter, but there is a local club here that shoots Hunter BR, and I'm wondering if I've got anything in my gunsafe that would come remotely close to working... Do have a couple of very nicely built .308's with Krieger barrels, but not sure that they're even close to what's required.

Thanks, Guy

Just built a rifle for this and shot a borrowed gun in a match. Stocks are 2.25" wide, 10# max, 6X scope. Most common case is the 30-47,,300 savage with shoulder pushed back) NBRSA rules let you have a mag cutout, but need not be operable, cannot glue follower to rifle, has to be removable. Most people use a reworked Rem short action. Finished 8th out of 24 shooters first match out.

That's great. Have a lot of respect for Hunter Class. I have alot of mags on BR back in the 1970's this is where I feel Hunter started. I feel true Hunter with a 6X scope is as tough shooting gets. Someday I want to start Registered Shoots in So Cal. I have a 100/200 range in mind and a 100/200/300 Range at San Gabriel that could work. Maybe Al can come on and give us his Hunter experience.

We shot 1 and 200 there is also a 300 yard target, but not many ranges shoot itas they don't have room.
