HSM .204/33gr.Calhoun Ammo

Guys,

I am thinking about buying some HSM .204 ammo from Cabela's. It is loaded with Calhoun's double hollow point 33Gr. bullet.

Any of you ever shot any HSM ammo.

Any of you ever shot this particular ammo in a CZ527 .204?

I think you mean HSM ammo, and I have used it in my 204 Cooper, I bought it from www.thehuntingshack.com . I got one of the first Coopers in 204 and there was no brass around so I tried the HSM in the 32Sierra,32V-max,and the 33Calhoon. In my Cooper the Calhoons shoot in the .4's, with the v-max, and the Sierra's in the .2's. But Mr. Squirrel doesn't seeem to know the difference. I have no connection with The Hunting Shack, but if you check out their web site, you can see they offer retail ammo for lots of stuff, I got some 17M4 from them for another Cooper, also some 20 Tac. I have shot this ammo and both my Remington VSSF II and my CZ 527 American hate it. Neither weapon will group it consistently for digger squirrel sized targets.

It is coyote accurate enough though.

My buddy has the same CZ as us and his eats it up-go figure.

If you want to try some factory ammo get some Winchester Super X 34gr JHP. My CZ loves it, the Remington tolerates it.

Hornady 40gr V-Max out of the box is great in both of my guns.

I've shot ~1500 rounds of HSM 204R in various rifles including a couple CZ 527's. The HSM with 32 & 39gr Sierra BlitzKings are the best shooting factory ammo I've found. It shoots as accurate as I can reload in a Dillon 550, only slightly below a good single stage press load. I much prefer the 39gr bullet as it has better accuracy beyond 200 yards, I think because of the superior BC.

I've not tried HSM with the Calhoon bullet because I've heard they are not as explosive as a BlitzKing or V-Max and I use the bulk ammo for ground squirrels/sage rats. The Calhoon might be the ticket for ground hogs & coyotes?
