The HS is identical to the OEM Remington bottom metal. At least the Gen I HS is.That's what I was thinking, I've just never had my hands on one. Also it looks like dave Kiff sells a bottom metal that might fit. It's about 100$ cheaper than the HS.
The older Gen I bottom metal had the inside trigger guard release making it exactly that, a good hunting set up. The only problem I've had with them is they are not easy to release. Takes alot of pressure and in cold weather, it can be all but impossible to release. The Gen II makes the release much easier almost like they fixed the issue with the new generation setup.Another vote for the HS Mag system. They are a little pricey but I really like the features they offer. Number one being that when used on a hunting rifle especially there is no accidentally hitting the lever to drop the mag, it's recessed in very nicely and only comes out when you want it to. They also offer higher capacity mags if you really want one.
