Howa mini

Love the super short action. If the 204 were offered in a longer barrel I'd be much more interested in the gun.

My thoughts exactly; don't have much use for a 20" barrel.....

I thought I'd add a little info to the post even though it doesn't answer the original posters question. In addition to the bolt being .900" shorter the bolt is also .060" smaller in diameter. The action itself is about .160" smaller in diameter than the 1500 long and short action. The one I have here is a .223 and the barrel is coming off to build a 20 Vartarg. The action is 1.190" diameter and the barrel shank is 1.100". I haven't seen this info posted anywhere before and I thought it might be helpful to those think about building off of this action.

And also the top of the action is radiuse the same as the standard action so any Remington two piece base will work with it. I mounted talley lightweight rings extra low on mine and the fit was ideal. Mounted a scope tonight and will try and sight in this weekend. Very nicely machine action, it's smooth and lightweight. For the price I am very impressed. On thing of note, I had three in the shop and cleaned up two of them to,include bores coping them just to check them out. Bores me were very decent, but both I looked at had crowns that were less than good. I just single point re-cut mine tonight. May not be an issue, but there were dings on the end of the lands and grooves that did protrude into the bore. Pretty small, but definitely mot right.
