Howa mini action

Hey guys,
I'm kind of interested in the howa mini action 300 black out ..its a cheapo so it looks..
But what can you tell me about this rifle as I have zero knowledge of this company and it products
If I picked up one of these I would want to change it to .20 vartarg and live happily ever after..
Does it take ever trick in the book to make these gun shoot..is it a waist of money..for something to beat around in the wet woods shooting small game..how do these compare with the cz 547 mini action

They are great little actions. Way beefier than the CZ.

Bottom metal on the mini is plastic but there are nice aluminum aftermarket replacements. I went with aluminum because I wanted a more consistent torque in the receiver screws. Other than that, there’s no other complaints I can find.

I did put an aftermarket trigger spring kit in it but you don’t actually need it unless you like your varmint rifle triggers super light like I do.
 
Some will say I am stupid, I sold 3 527’s and bought 3 minis. I am way happier myself. Even if I did put one ina chassis, new stocks and bottom metal for the other two. I have no complaints at all.

Oh and feeding, slick as ........ first few times out with them I opened the bolt to make sure it picked up a cartridge. A habit I got from the CZ.
 
...it looks like alot of rifle for a few hundred bucks..but I have held one in real life.
Could any one tell me how the howa mini 300black compares to the savage axis 300black

Of the two rifles, do you guys feel there the same quality..I just want to get one change it to 20 vt and start shooting
On the cheap..so savage wins that..but is the little howa worth a custom barrel..not that the little axis is but it will get me where I want to be easily

Does that make sense..
Do you think the
Howa, CZ, savage actions are about all the same
I'll put the Remington model 7 and winchester 70 compact in different class

Great little action. I got a Barreled action in 6.5 Grendel. Tossed the barrel in the trash, Spun up two X caliber barrels, One in 6mm Fat Rat, the other in 224 Grendel. Origionally put it in a Boyds Thumbhole, Didnt like that, went to a Varminter, then found a Chassis system that it fits in nicely. It's a fantstic little rifle. Put a Timney 502 trigger on for a Howa 1500 because they fit right on it. Had Long Scope base base as the action is short and not much room if you like your scope forward like i do.

I won’t say the Howa is better than any Savage, some of them yes.

They have a fairly large amount of 20 caliber offerings. I have a couple of them and pleased with them.
I put a 22Nosler on a Howa Mini and used their nut. Have to say it is a nice system and nicer looking than some.

Bought one three years ago in .223,had it chambered to 6 SPC dropped it into a boyd prairie hunter stock with DIP bottom metal. Haven't had time to fine tune it due to a lack of range time (family health problems),but last shot of the year 2020 center punched a whistle pig at 381 yards with a 75 grain V-max at 3200 fps. Love it!

Do barrel manufacturers sell the jam nut for these rifles, like a savage., but there not sold with a nut from Howa correct?
If one was so switch to a nut set up can the original stock be modified to allow for the nut.
Or is the factory stock trash..like Remington sps stock..that thing when right in the trashcan..
Wow about some gun porn ..I should could use a little excitement, this covid isolation is killing me..

I would almost bet the nut from Preferred would fit with no modification. At least the Howa Mini.

If I could figure how to post pics I would do so. If it doesn’t have spark plugs a distributor or a primer I struggle with it.
