Howa 1500

Looking to restock this rifle. Do not like how flimsy the forend is on this rifle. Need info on the action foot print. Are the similar to a Remington or are the different. Chambered in 308 with a varmint sized barrel. Thanks Tony

Totally different! If you are looking for after market stocks, Howa 1500 is the same as weatherby vangard, and the smith and Wesson 1500. Bell&Carlson, McMillan, boyts, and a host of others make drop in stocks, your pocket book is your only limitation. Just make sure to check barrel contour. My vote is McMillan, spendy, yes, but worth every penny!

McMillan has a number of stocks that can be inletted for the howa action. The Sako hunting stocks are particularly nice, and the molded in finishes hold up well to hard use and any weather. Boyds also has laminated stocks for a good price. I put one under a Remington not long ago and was very pleased with the way it finished up. They list the Vanguard and probably have some in stock.

My vote would go to a McM in the Winchester Marksman pattern, very versatile stock for that barreled action. HS Precision may also have a good drop-in that is similar.

Try looking at Boyds stocks.They do a fine job and sell factory direct for under 100$.next day shipping on most of there stuff.I have had several and have not been disappointed.BOB
