Howa 1500

Has anyone here ever built a prone rifle on a Howa 1500 receiver? I am thinking about another 6 mm rifle and maybe use a Howa receiver. I haven't done anything yet other than look around to see if there is a stock available.

I have not but here is an article about someone who has. I've talked to this guy before and he builds some really nice rifles. In Australia where he lives the Wby Vanguard action is readily available. Doesn't have the Howa brand on it but they make them for Wby.

That is what I was thinking of. This would be a "budget" rifle, not that this idea is all that practical, but for me, I think it would be an adequate receiver to build on. Finding a stock is a little more difficult if I limit myself to something that is pre inletted like one from Richard's.

The gentleman in the article uses Boyds stocks. Inexpensive and are usually drop in with no modifications.

I rebuilt my Howa 1500 into something that works
