How to use target turrets?

I'm new to the forum, and have been shooting a Sightron 6.5X24X42 SIII with mil dots. I noticed today that after returning the target elevation knob to "0" It shot low. Do you turn them past the 0 setting, and back? I was supprized as this scope is supposed to have the "exact trac" feature. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ron

Do you have to dial past the zero point, then return to the zero mark?

I have to with a couple of my Leupolds, but it shouldn't be necessary with your Sightron. Give them a call.

I have read elsewhere that it is good practise to go a couple of clicks past where you want and wind back. Takes any backlash out.

This does however sound like a more severe problem.

Called Sightron today and they said to send it in. They said also that I had it too far out of the "optic center" and that would cause tracking problems also. Ron
