How to remove tape from a Hydro dipped stock

I have Teflon tape that was taped to the bottom of a Hydro dipped stock and want to remove it WITHOUT Damaging the Hydro film underneath .Please only suggest something that HAS worked.

Most Hydro Dips are satin clear coated. Maybe try alcohol. Or, a good dish soap. Anything to cut the goo without getting after the clear coat.

I have used GOO GONE it will not harm your stock. Tommy Mc Goolgle it.

Problem is pullin up the stock tape.
If it was applied before clear reached full cure there's probably some solvent trapped in the film build which will cause a delamination when peeling stock tape.

I used a hair dryer to heat the tape and pulled it off and used lighter fluid to clean the sticky from the clear coat. This was on a stock that had high dollar clear that had cured for several months before tape was applied. There was no hydro dip under the clear, just paint.

I almost forgot to mention that I always have a generous supply of Tin Cup rye whiskey before trying something like this.
I’m have two good shots to brace myself. The rest I set aside in the event the project doesn’t go well.

Brett, what about light heat from a heat gun to loosen the adhesive bond while pulling gently from the corner. I think I’d try this before any chemicals.

Heat does help but it's not the end all solution. Patience is, ime.

Dave like Mike says a lil heat can help, and lots of patience.
Let's keep a few things in mind.
Stock is a composite= To much heat can damage the layup/ composition of materials.
Hydro dip is a vinyl film heat can cause this to blister defeating the outcome of saving the dip.
To repeat what Dusty said a lot of guys use cheap clear coats.
I'm not one of those guys. Lol

I would probably try a hot compress to soften the adhesive and peel gingerly applying the compress often.
