How to remove hydro dip ?

I bought a McMillan Hunter edge fill stock second hand. It came hydro dipped and I’d like to remove the dip and piant it. What’s the best way to remove the hydro dip ?

Depends on the process they used. The best use automotive clear over the top. Some use a flattening agent rather than leaving it shiny.
If that's the case on yours, treat it like a car, sand it, prime and paint.

Deep Woods Off has taken the finish clean off a shotgun and a rifle for me. Both were from just having it on my cheek and placing it on the stock. I’m hard-pressed to put that stuff back on after seeing that.

Any particular type and brand ? I could put the rubber gloves on and give it a go. If if didn’t work I can sill sand it.

I know Ben's works, since that's the kind of bug spray I use. I've heard others work as well. My Benelli looks like it has leprosy, because of bug spray...lol

If its going to be repainted the best and fastest way is to just blast it in a blast cabinet with aluminum oxide. Should remove the dip and the base paint. Sometimes, depending on the quality of dip acetone will take a fair amount off.
