How to put the Bat 3lug bolt back in the action

I am embarrassed to ask, but I can not seem to put the Bat action 6ppc 3 lug bolt back in the action. I bought the rifle used and it arrived with the bolt out. It appears that the bolt must have discharged during the time I was putting it into the action. I would appreciate if someone familiar with this action can guide me in getting it back into the action.

Thanks,
Ed

whoever sold it to you was a gentelman...he "uncocked" the mainspring so it wouldnt degrade....all you gota do is roll the fire control to the cocked position and the bolt will go rite in...Roger

Thanks Roger, how do I roll the bolt? I have tried to hold and turn it but it won't budge. Their must be a trick to rolling it back. Do I need to depress something and then turn?

Thanks,
Ed

Get youself a Kleindorst firing pin removal tool which will take the pressure off the firing pin spring. Those are good to have just to keep your bolt clean. They are specific to particular actions. I got mine from Russ Haydon in Washington State.

With the bolt in your hand flip the bolt over. On the rear of the bolt (handle end) there is the piece you're looking for. There should be two slots (for lack of a better word) one lower (which is where this piece should be positioned now) and on higher (which is where this piece needs to be positioned to go back in the gun). You will either have to buy the tool for moving this piece or use a small pair of vice grips (take whatever precautions you feel necessary to keep from scratching this piece or just except that it may get scratched) to move this piece. Clamp the vice grips to this piece pull back on the piece and move the piece to the higher notch. I know this is more confusing than helpful but it is hard for me to explain on the computer. My number is 864-323-2366 call me if you need. Brian Brown.

Ed...good morning...Ive been "tied up" since yesterday and didnt see your ?..,,, as Dave says there are several "tools" on the market to re-kok your bolt and some neanerthals (sp-haha) like me in a pinch will use brute force and a properly adjusted wrench with cloth or paper in the jaws to delicately twist it also!!....im bettin you got it by now.....its a good lesson to us all to not store the bolt cocked.....we can all learn something every day...Roger

GO DIRECTLY TO BAT MACHINE AND PURCHASE THEIR FIRING PIN REMOVAL TOOL.

Scroll down to the bottom of the Accessories page: http://www.batmachine.com/products/products.htm . It's $40. A must have tool, for many reasons.

This happened at my last match somehow, I was working the bolt fast etc. I left my Kleinendorst at home of course. Ruined my 1000 yard stage of the F-class match, was doing pretty good up until that point.

Well if you're in a pinch like I was and don't have your Kleinendorst, you can use pliers. This will require you to pull back with the pliers and twist, until the roller fits in the divot on the bolt body.

Thanks to all your advise I was able to get it done with my hands. I put heavy leather gloves on and was able to turn it to correct position. It went into the action and I dry fired it a few times. I have ordered the correct 3 lug tool from Russ Hydons. I don't want to go the hands route again.

Thanks again,
Ed
