How to make a dead center for headstock spindle

I had a young guy wanting to re-barrel his own rifle ask me about my dead center that I made to go into the outboard side of my headstock spindle. I have 2 of them that I made in different lengths to accommodate short barrels thru the headstock. Is there an article online with photos describing how to make one.? I tried to describe how I made mine in an email, but I am not sure it is understandable to a newbie lathe operator.
