how to determine what bolt face is in an action

I just got an action from the classifieds. (Savage model 10 flat back) It also came with an extra bolt face. How/where do I measure to determine what size bolt faces I have?? Hope this made since. I searched the web but had no real luck..

Any reloading book will tell you the rim diameter of the different case sizes.

Measure the inside diameter of the bolt face. Standard (.308) is .473" or so. Magnum is larger.

Usually the bolt face is a bit larger than the case. I think .008" larger is the std.
