How to create a raised comb on factory stock

Win Mod 70 Laminate stock. I have a tall 8x32x56MM scope. I see on Savage long range rifles they have a comp that can be raised or lowered. With out drilling holes in my stock how can create a raised comb ? Is there some after market thing I can add to it /

Solved this problem by inserting strips of sponge rubber under an Uncle Mike`s buttstock cartridge carrier. You might get some comments at an F Class practise about being "battle ready" but it works great.

Trap and skeet shooters build up their combs with layers of moleskin available at drug stores. Don`t know how high you have to go but it is an option.

Karsten cheek piece is an excellent product, also a gi sleeping pad or ayou mouse pad cut to shape and held by Velcro is an inexpensive option. The Kirsten is great though.

Just wanted to point out an overlooked option:

I live for these kinds of 1st world problems. These are the opportunities that I use to explain to my wife how the stock is too low and it won't work, and how I have to get a new rifle with a stock that will. (For what it's worth that only works a couple of times; use wisely.)

Good luck. Godspeed.

Graco (and a couple of others) sell Adjustable Comb Hardware. You cut the comb from the stock and add the hardware. The stock will have to be finished/sealed where the cut was made. Trap and skeet shooters have this done all the time.

You can buy the hardware from Brownell's. Do a search on comb hardware.

In a pinch you can use foam pipe insulation that comes with a slit. The slit has a preapplied adhesive with a peel away protector. You can find it at any hardware store. Cut to length and spread the slice and put it on top of the stock, peel away the protector and it is glued in place. Works pretty good. Can be removed and the adhesive removed with "oops adhesive remover" without harming the stock.
