How much MOA bases ?

I'm building (having it built) a 6mmBR with a BAT action, Tooley MBR stock, and 28 in Kreiger barrel with 12x42 NXS scope. For shooting 200yds - 1000 yds...Will 10 MOA base be enough for that scope ? I had the exact setup with a 6x47 Lapua but it had a 20 MOA base. I didn't shoot it close range at all. I would like to with this setup. Anyone see any disadvantages with the 10 MOA base ?
Thanx again,
Dave

That's a 40 min scope so to use all of the adjustment it would need 20 min bases. A 10 min base would only allow you to use 30 minutes.

Agree .... I found that 10MOA bases weren't sufficient for my Leupold 6.5x20 and had to go to 20MOA for those 1K shots and the scope still works very well at 100 yards.

That's assuming your scope will be in the middle of the adjustment range after mounting, which seldom happens. Most times it ends up on the wrong side of favorable.

Dave: I'm using the Bat 20 moa picatinny one piece bases on my Bat receivers, and Burris Signature Zee rings. With the availability of the .010 off-set inserts that are included with the 30mm rings, I have a lot of choices, plus the advantage of never putting ring marks on my scope tubes.

For me, that has been an excellent combination.
