How much is too much?

Neck chamner clearence that is.
No compitition, just a shooter. Any caliber.
.252 neck chamber.
.2485 to .249 loaded round.
How much clearence is too much? Is .004 to .005 too much?
(depending on which brass is used)

Generally .0015 to .002 is good for benchrest.I have seen many factory chambers that give you .010 which is .005 on a side..004 or .005 for a hunting rifle is fine as long as your loads are not too big loaded. You really have to measure the neck of the chamber to tell what you have.

The question came up because I ordered up a reamer with a .234 neck. "Some" loaded brass are coming out to .233 and some in the lower range of .2295. The thought was that maybe I might get split necks if the necks could expand too much.
I'am thinking with a .234 neck, I'll be able to shoot just about any brass.
Curious what other folks thought.

Unless one is a benchrest competitor I feel that as long as everything is centered in the chamber (necks outside turned and runout less than .0015-.002" for case neck and bullet seating). My rifles for conventional long range and Palma shoot less than .25-.5 moa with no-turn necks.
