How much freebore for the hybreds

Relatively sure this puts the bottom of bearing surface right at the neck-shoulder junction?

I would want the junction of the bearing surface and boat tail above the donut. Heads off potential issues. Some people want it up into the part of the neck that is sized. YMMV

A .188 Freebore will do just fine IF you ONLY use the 180 Hybrids. If you stay with 180gr projectiles, you should consider a longer freebore. The Berger VLD's will need about a .215 and if you desire to shoot the Lapua 180 Scenar, a .250 would be minimum. Bottom line, if you want more options, you will need a bit more freebore.

I chambered one recently for a board member....maybe he'll comment if he sees this. He had the reamer made with a .250 freebore, but had been using, IIRC, a .188. I spoke with him yesterday and he not had time to shoot it yet, but said he thought the .250 was the right way to go, based on his dummy rounds and that the .188 was not enough. I think he was using the 180 vld's, too.

My SAUM reamer has a .180 which was specifically for hybrids, worked great.

Being Captain Obvious, freebore (.220) and neck diameter for light clean up (.315) is the same for both 7mm saum as a straight .284?
