How much barrel weight can a Win 70 handle

I have a buddy that's wants to hang a 28" 1.250 barrel off the front of his push feed Win 70. (7 rem mag ) Doing the work won't be a problem but I am uncertain if there is enough threads to handle that much tube. I have not tore down the rifle to see if it's 16 or 28 tpi yet if that can matter
Thanks for any advice. Shawn

I currently have a 1.25 barrel on my win pushfeed that is 24" long the chamber is 221 fireball. It shoots very well and I have not seen any issues

I'm not so sure I'd get fixated on the threads, the length or the pitch of... I'd look closer at what is behind the front ring. The magazine feed port, the 'thinness' of the ejection port rail, that's where flexing/stressing might occur. Of course how the rifle is bedded is another variable. Some may bed under the chamber or a bit further to try to help with the leverage of the long, heavy barrel. Whether that's a good idea or not, I'll leave it up to you to decide. If you can make it work out to your customers' satisfaction you'll be a hero, if not you're a hack. I've always got enough real gunsmith work that I choose not to experiment with such things, folks are waiting for their work to be completed in a timely manner. Experimenting takes time, plain and simple. Why do BR shooters prefer solid bottom actions?

My first 6.5x284 has a 9# barrel hanging off a push feed M70 long action. I chose to bed the first inch of the parallel to help with weight and the rifle was a tack driver. Maybe one of my best (of like 12 now). I loved the rifle, but at 19# with scope, super slow pit service one day broke me of shooting heavy rifles. I couldn't bring myself to tear down a rifle that shot that we'll, so I sold it. One of three rifles I regret selling...
