how many still cut

How many still cut primer pockets In 6mm br cases? I'm asking since I always did on ppc cases. Plus it's to cold to do any shooting. I have a K&M small pocket reamer/cutter .122".
Thanx again,
Rmist

I have the Sinclair primer pocket uniforming tool for both small & large primers. Tried "uniforming" the pockets & discovered there is nothing to "uniform". Put the cutter in the pocket, turn & not a trace of brass shavings. A waste of time with Lapua brass. Thought I could use the tool to clean the pockets after firing, but the fouling remains.

Not so with some other brass like Winchester, Federal and Lake City, where some amount of brass will be removed, some of the time.

They make a specific cutter for that,

Sinclair Primer Pocket Uniformers, PPC & BR
I uniform my primer pocket just so I can use the uniformer tool to clean them.

zfastmalibu: You are correct. I just checked & it's the standard cutters that I have, not the one for the ppc & BR cases. Will include one with my next Sinclair order & give it a try. Thanks. ;)

I uniform ALL of my brass. I use Sinclair's tool. Just be aware that Sinclair had a SEPERATE tool for the NORMA 6mm BR...it is slightly different than a "regular" small rifle tool.

Just a heads up....check it out and ask the pros at sinclair before you order.

Good luck,
Tod

I have a K&M that I use to clean up my Lapua 220 Russian and 6BR primer pockets. Doesn't cut much brass out, and on some cases none at all. Most the brass that does come out is from the side of the primer pocket. I use it to clean the primer pockets too, and it clean out most the carbon. If much carbon is left behind I hit it with a wire RCBS cleaning tool too, for piece of mind, although I'm sure it isn't required.

I used to do it....now I don't. Has not shown any discernable effects one way or another therefore I won't bother anymore.

as mentioned earlier: I use an RCBS uniformer. It is adjusted to a particular depth so every primer pocket is uniform. The pockets may be 1 or 2 thousands deeper than norm, but it works good. I use the uniformer to clean my primer pockets,,they always look freshly cut.
