How is a projectile effected?

Hi

I will be shooting at a range in a couple of weeks over 600. This range has a raised section of approx 150 meters long a starting at approx the 275 meter mark. The bullet will travel the 150 meters only 6 to 12 inches off the ground for the raised section. Will being so close to the ground for that section have an effect on the bullet different to a more average distance off the ground for the other 2 sections?

I am shooting a 6BR 105VLD 30gr Varget.

Many thanks

No. IF wind changes, that is a different matter, but there is no proximity effect until you are <3/4" above the surface..

I am not a meteorologist, however, it would seem to me that if the ground is considerably cooler than the air and especially in the direct warming rays of the sun, thermals should move air at a considerably faster velocity than say 50+ feet off the ground. However, like I said, I am NOT a meteorologist>>> I am only making a guess...

But... the bullet travels in a high arc - not a straight line over the ground.

So, if it is traveling 12 inches above the ground, then the ground has to be 30" above your line of sight and you can't see to aim.

If you can aim, and your view is ~6 to 12 inches over the ground, then the bullet will be flying ~50 inches over the ground.
