How I spent my quarantine vacation

I am sitting in the reloading room trying to make up my mind whether or not to pull a Savage 22-250 apart and screw on a 6x45 barrel and swap out the bolt head or just run what I have.
Plenty of ammo for either or.

I'm retired, so I have the time. Good on ya for working still. God bless you if you're on the front lines.

no sir just a old Electrician in a sawmill and I still have a few head of cattle to take care of. I hope all of you out there stay healthy through this crisis and enjoy your quarantine time in your loading rooms and definitely God Bless all our troops!....

Luckily my range is still open so I can test loads. I’ve worked up a load for my AR with some bullets and brass that I bought in the classifieds. After a few trips testing loads, I’m satisfied enough to load up 500 rounds.

I’ve also worked up a load for my 204 Ruger and loaded a couple hundred so that I have some on hand.

Last but not least, today I received my new barrel from Lee Gardener Precision chambered 22 BR Improved. It’s a prefit for a small shank Savage Action so tonight I’ll be getting it set up for some testing.

I'm thinking the 22-250 could use a break.
If not you'll be changing the barrel soon enough.

Actually Bc'z the 22-250 has only around 400-500 rounds through it but it has sat in the back of the safe for probably ten years. Where as the 6x45 barrel was just taken off of an action for a 30Br shouldered replacement for short range score matches. I want to put together a good shooting practice gun but don't want to but another action.
Also contemplating selling off 3-4 of the others that do not get used and then buy one more BR gun for a back up.

Something way similar, but I didn't have my barrel yet. Pulled the factory 24" 308 barrel (smooth nut) and then ordered my barrel, nut, recoil lug and gauges from NSS. But they only have 26" in stock so it's now 10 weeks plus for them to backorder to Criterion. :(

Still working, direct support for essential services, but spending evenings and weekends close to home. I had a big bucket of mixed handgun brass that I have sorted and in the process of cleaning. After a little reading here, I have decided to make the plunge into stainless pin wet tumbling, as soon as it arrives that will keep me busy for an evening or two, as someone commented in another thread, turning my brass into jewelry.

Doing what work I can from home. I do have a bunch of time on my hands left over. Since I am on the low end of the age that Corvid-19 can effect worse I am staying at home. I have actually found about 4 more feet of loading bench after I cleaned the pile of things off of it. I actually found quite a few more square feet of floor space also after cleaning up the junk. I have lost count of how many rounds of ammo of different calibers I have loaded. I started sizing a 50 cal ammo can crammed as full as it will hold with 223 cases yesterday and got about 3/4 of it done before my arms got tired. Probably will finish it tomorrow then start running them through the primer pocket crimp swage. A good result of cleaning up my loading bench and putting stuff up I have found cases and bullets I forgot I had.

Working in a hospital and trying to dodge the covid. When I'm not here though I'm thankful for a private range on family land. Will be playing with a dasher, 6x45, 223 and a new wildcat. In between teaching the older two and trying to entertain the 2 year old that is.
God bless you for youre hospital work. Stay healthy

Thanks again,
Pop
