How good is this bag?

They are junk. PM me for my address so I can dispose of them properly. Oh yeah, if you could include some heavy sand with the shipment, that would help them stay on the bottom of the lake.

Can you guys give me any feed back on these?

Hey Jon-K...

They look real pretty.

But I would like to add somfin.

The leather looks hard on the outside... like shoe leather. You will want something soft and squshable, because that's how you aim.

I have Protektor bags that I bought in the 60's - the front was replaced last year, after 40+ years, the rear bag is still fine.

Don't be impressed by pretty patches and inlays - get a work horse, because you will kick the crap out of it.

.

Those are as good as they get, as above stated. I really like mine and went through a bunch of others before settling on it. a lot of guys use the front rest to aim the rifle now, although there are some bag squeezers left around.

If that's an Edgewood, they are extremely well made, with a nice stiff bottom that doesn't rock. Some people prefer the Tall ears as shown, others prefer the shorter ears. Depends on your shooting style, stock angle, whether you shoot free recoil etc.

As Vmthtr noted, some folks like to make fine movements of elevation and windage by squeezing the ears and/or body of the rear bag. I'd say the majority of folks in benchrest now prefer a more rigid rear bag that just serves to guide the stock. Changes in windage/elevation are made with the front rest. With a Farley or Seb-Coaxial, one control does both windage and elevation. For those types of front rests you want a very stiff bag that doesn't give much.

Edgewood are as good as they get period. They wear like Iron and in the BR Game are highly sought after. I have a custom version that has an extra line of stitching at the base of the ears to add stiffness. You will absolutely not be disappointed in the Edgewood products:).

The real challenge with these types of bags is how you fill them!! There is a trick to doing it correctly----follow the directions carefully. When you get the bag PM me and we can discuss because it would take 20 minutes of typing to detail everything out lol!!

If those are Edgewood bags as they appear to be from the photo, the leather isn't as stiff as you might think, Catshooter. It's pliable enough if you like to squeeze the bags but stiff enough to hold it's shape really well. The base probably is the same stuff as sole leather--multiple layers of it with extra layers on the outer edge to keep it stable.

If you decide to try something new, get one. As everyone's noted, they're a top-notch bag.

I have a protektor now with the short ears and my rifle does not track that well,I started a thread on it a few months ago.Nows the time to get a new one.Im thinking about the right one because of the spacing,I have a pretty thick stock.
