How far is to far

What is the max distance that is safe to seat bullets out into the lands? Do you need the diameter of the bullet in the neck or more? Meaning do you need .243" of the shank down in the neck at a minimum? I'm working on another load and have a pretty good MV and ES/SD at .035 into the lands and this is the farthest I've ever ventured. Just checking before I go a bit farther.

No, you do not need .243 in the neck. You can jam as far as you'd like.
My 6ppc runs best at .040 jam which leaves roughly just .080 in the neck. Its a rather long throat for a ppc.

Depending on the ogive of the bullet and neck tension your probably pretty close to the limits of jamming.
Some shapes begin to reseat themselves in the case. Others will engrave a little deeper than .035.

The downsides to jamming? If you need to unchamber a live round its quite possible the bullet will stay jammed and you'll dump a load of powder in your action.
Besides that you should be good to go.
