Before the Forum rework, I had no problem posing pictures out of my IPad.
Now, All I get is.....”picture too large”.
What am I doing wrong?

Forum Boss: Jackie, the limit for file size now is actually 2 megabytes, which is BIGGER than before, but we had an “silent” autoresizer running in the background. Please try this. Click on the photo frame button. Then choose a photo from you photo archive select “Large“ or ”Medium” photo size, instead of “actual” size.

We will look into this. We had a very efficient automatic resizer plugin Jay was very clever to find for the older software. We can't find an exact equivalent for the new software, so we had to find another tool. We will keep looking for something better.

My suggestion — if you are on a desktop, resize with a program to 1000 pixels wide then drag right into the frame.

From an iPad, click on the photo icon (top of frame) then select a photo from your photos folder. When you do that you will be given a choice of Actual, Large, Medium, or small. I brought this in from my iPad, selected “medium”. Absolutely no problem whatsoever.

1st pic to load

Forum Boss: Guys... please note. On a desktop you can just drag photo into the frame from a stored photos folder.

For cellphone or iPads I suggest you use the small photo icon.

REPEAT use the small photo icon to right of chain symbol.

You do NOT have to use the attachment function.

REPEAT: Drag and drop for desktop, photo button for mobile. That will give you an image that fills the frame. Please try that.

This is the logic at work in Xenforo:

Maximum image dimensions are 1600x1600
Maximum file size is 2 MB
Maximum pixel count allowed in an image are 20000000

If you try to upload an image bigger than 1600x1600, Xenforo will resize it to the max allowed dimensions. However, if the resulting image is still bigger than 2 MB, it won't upload.

There is another caveat though (and this is straight from Xenforo):

Images over 20 megapixels won't be resized because that takes up a lot of server resources.
If the image dimensions are set to a limit below 20 megapixels (which they are in our case -- 1600 multiplied by 1600 < 20 megapixels ), images greater than 20 megapixels, or with a dimension larger than that permitted, will be rejected with an error stating The uploaded image is too big.

Hope that clarifies things.

Moral of the story: try to not upload iPhone/iPad HDR photos and upload medium/large photos. Some of the Android phones have cameras that take very high resolution images so you might hit the limits as well.
