How do you make a AMP Pilot

I am thinking, maybe the case has to stick out of the pilot a certain length as to properly anneal only the proper area. Better off buying one like Preacher said.

Last ones I bought were from Creedmoor. They still sell them although not all are available in stock

I don’t have an amp and never used one but from what a search brings up I think the stick out is fairly important. If youhave a way to calculate the position it would be fairly simple to fabricate on the lathe. Turning tool, threading tool, knurling tool and boring bar should get it done.

Out of curiosity I tried working out how much offset each insert is designed for. The geometric relationship isn't obvious.
