Hotter primer?

Which primer is hotter, a Federal 215 magnum or Wolf 7.62Nato? I've read several places the Wolf is hotter as I'm working with a wildcat cartridge that requires around 170grs of powder and don't want hang fires. Thank you

The Feds are hotter
The Wolfs only have a harder cup
Wolf's Magnum primers have a harder cup but the same amount of the same compound as their standard primers
( Wolfs have a shorter duration and less flame than the other brands )

sounds like you need a magnum primer

Raising pressure doesn't always translate to hotter ignition because what you are looking for is a primer that fires more brisance faster/farther.

General consensus throughout the years has been that Federal 215 / 215M is the only trusted primer by those who reload for the 505 Gibbs to 700NE and everything in between like 585 Nyati etc.

Is hotter something we test for are talk about? I was told Federal primers were dangerous because they were 'more powerful'. That did it for me, I went straight to using Federal primers because that is what I want; I want a more powerful primer. And them, I read R. Lee's book on modern reloading and found reloaders were quoting R. Lee; it was about that time I realized I had a different copy of R. Lee's book because in my book R. Lee said he did not test Federal primers because they did not give him primers to test.
