Hotel Cost for a hunt

Just a FYI. Booking our hotel room for our hunt this year and the price of the room jumped almost 50 % per day . Ouch, that's hard to take. Save your money guys it's getting ugly.

Right now, fuel for our trip west for PD's is going to cost me double. Motel is up probably $20 per night.
Not happy about it but I didn't vote for it so it isn't my fault.

Same here, fuel price takes the fun out of it if I think very hard on n the subject. Buddy drove last year, brand new 2021 Dodge Laredo with Cummins. I will admit to not being a Dodge fan, but man is that a nice rig! I got behind the wheel and didn’t want to let him drive any more. I tossed around the thought of a new rig, diesel where it is now, I am back to my senses.

Motel room is up, maybe $20 more than 10 years ago lol.

I guess this means 1 trip instead of 2 this year. But we seen this coming from last year. The extra 500-1000 $$ is just going to have to be in our budgets. I don't go anywhere and Deer hunt anymore so I tell myself I'm saving money. Life comes down to priorities, even hobbies.

Airfare went up 30% and car rental 50% for me this year. Transitioned from motel to AirBNB last year which was the best tweak we have made on our yearly PD safari trip… Lost 2020 trip to pandemic and going to loose 2022 trip to increased costs… We drive so much and need to tank up every evening, so the 50% fuel increase also adds to the bottom line. A PD shoot will cost as much as an elk hunt!

Our annual trip from CA to NE for deer hunting this fall will not be cheap. Towing an enclosed 16' cargo trailer over the Rockies burns a lot of diesel.

I'm hopeful that fuel prices will magically drop ahead of the November elections.....

.

Meals, even in a small town will cost more. A beer at the bar talking with ranchers will cost more, or they just won't be there. Which would be another problem.

If Possible Airb&b ??? Save on Food and Roon cost ?
Motel in Phoenix $197/$129 for 2.
House Sleeps 7 $113 an night , 7 way split ?
As stated if Possible ?

Good Luck Hunt Well

My outfitter didn't go up this yr. Flying this yr too. Saving time AND money by nixing 4 nights/meals in motels, 4000miles of gas. VS $650 plane ride/$300 car rental
Downside to flying means ONE rifle instead of 2 or 3. UP side l'm not dead from 3 days driving each way

Well gas prices are double so that has to be even more costly than a motel room increase. It's all bad no matter what you do today. Bad part is, I don't see the prices dropping on food or commodities. Fuel will always fluxuate but the other stuff is not going to drop again. Air fare is not cheap. I think if someone has enough time off or retired, driving is more economical if splitting cost 2-3 ways. Tent camp or hauling a camp out is the way to go IMO.

Hertz Ford Transit van, some 2x12 for a riser, plywood, mattress, portable house AC that stands on its own, vented out a cardboard temporary window. camp stove, state parks to sleep in. Heading west for a month just me and Mrs. Snert, seeing the kids, hopefully shooting some PD. Ya listening Mark??

;) ;):):)

I look at it this way....If you think of what it costs (gas, lodging, tags, processing, etc) per POUND of meat that you get from whatever animal you're hunting, it's WAY cheaper to just BUY it. Now when you add the whole hunting experience into it....Well that makes it all worth it doesn't it. I mean how much is a trip to the boonies worth to your soul....Priceless I say.

Ammo is x3 and some how hotel increase is a shock?
It is when you book 13 days. Ammo components were purchased 2 and 3 years ago. This was meant to be a thread about prepping for a shoot and to be aware of the increase. If I wanted people taking pot shots at me I'd go deer hunting. Have a good day markt.

I don't think he was trying to be a dick, just stating the obvious.
